BACKGROUND

Our client, a provider of next-generation IP-based network and data services, utilized Xoriant Corporation's software product development and engineering services to successfully develop X-treme Service Activity Manager (XSAM), a solution that allows mobile network operators to dynamically filter content being requested by or pushed to subscribers.

BUSINESS NEEDS

Our client’s mission is to enable domestic and global mobile operators to bring new wireless data services to market quickly and easily. Because mobile operators constantly work with content and content providers to deliver their subscribers the latest services, it was important to give them a simple and effective content management solution. However, our client’s experience was that successful deployment of content services can vary greatly in technical requirements. Here, our client faced a couple of major challenges when it set out to deliver a content management solution:

  • The existing product was very rigid, so our client knew that development and deployment of new business logic would not be an easy task.

  • Our client wanted to develop a state-of-the-art solution for its mobile operators but was constrained by a tight budget and short timeline.

Our client created a list of requirements, using them as guidelines to facilitate the development of a new content management solution. These requirements were as follows:

  • a generic and easy to use mechanism of developing business logic;

  • performance of 250-300 transactions per second on a single server;

  • high availability;

  • managing of data in cache with modifications distributed across the cluster.

XORIANT RE-ENGINEERING

Our client needed development and software engineering services from a company that it could trust to deliver on time and within budget. The company had worked with Xoriant Corporation in the past, and knew it had an excellent reputation for designing, building, testing and integrating business critical solutions. Working closely with the client team, Xoriant Corporation helped develop and bring to market Xtreme Service Activity Manager (XSAM), a service mediation platform that allows operators to more easily manage relationships with content providers. XSAM mediates between subscribers and service providers, allowing a mobile network operator to quickly create and manage a wide range of value-added services, including downloadable ringtones, movie clips, news, gaming and much more. The first phase of the product was developed within four months, allowing our client to bring the product to market within a very short timeline. The second phase of the product was developed in four months, and exceeded all customer requirements. Once the products were delivered, Xoriant delivered an extremely cost-effective offshore model for support and maintenance of the product.
